This happened to me when I was in the 7 std. My music teacher came and told me that Maggi was holding a quiz completion for school children of the lower primary school in the Manipal school in Manipal. So he wanted me and my friend (whose name was also Ashwin) to participate in it. We agreed and were quite excited about it. Now the question came as to what should be learn for this quiz program. While we pondering over this, a “wise” teacher of mine came to where I was sitting with my music teacher. When she came to know about our problem she immediately advised “ Maggi quiz!!!!!! What else they will ask, other than what the ingredients are and how to cook it”. Eureka!!!!! She had just solved our problem.
Since that day onwards I and my friend religiously studied the entire Maggi noodle cover. The efforts paid and i was the master in knowing all the ingredients, weight, cost, customer feedback number, batch number and of course the famous two minute recipe.

Finally, the big day arrived and me and my friend whose name also happened to be Ashwin along with our music teacher reached Manipal school in Manipal. Now, this was a posh school and hence the crowd looked very fancy for us two kids from a small time convent school. We were late and the prelims had just got over. So we were specially interviewed.
The person who interviewed us was a famous TV news reader from Doordarshan. Don’t remember his name but he used to be the anchor of this news analysis show in hindi called “Parakh”. And ya the questions (Have a nice laugh as I type this out)… well it was everything but Maggi ingredients and the only question we answered was answered by me (On the mulberry bush and the silk worm).
When I look back I wonder if only I had some good teachers who could have guided me well. My dad had asked me to read GK books which of course I refused as my teacher had asked me to only focus on the ingredients. Since then I think I have sufficiently made up for my incompetence of those days … …..
