Trump Cards

My friend knocked on my door on fine morning during my summer vacation. My mother answered the door and Adarsh stepped in wanting to know what i was doing. he wanted to show me some new game something to do with a pack of cards with our favourite wrestling stars in it. I was curious and quickly followed him out of the house along with my younger brother. We then met the rest of the gang in the play ground (namesake) right in front of our houses. They were playing this interesting game what was now introduced to me as trump cards. I was told that the person having the highest height, weight, chest, ranking, biceps between a pair was the winner as gets the have the other persons cards. Everyone wanted Hulk Hogan who had the first rank or Abdullah who was the heaviest of them all.

As the holidays went by, we became very much involved in this game and also along with a renewed craze to watch WWF matches. When school re-opened we discovered that out friends in school too were playing the same game. Soon we began to exchange cards and even purchasing them from the other person for a few coins and sometimes notes. Back home during school holidays as our parents went to work we boys used to assemble in a house and have live wrestling matches where we hit and powed the other. I still remember Crasta who one day announced (of course a lie) about a new wrestler called Ivan Puski (fart in konkani). as he announced the name he would do a half sitting a leave out a fart.

One day my neighbour got to know about our little adventure in the house and in the playground as we played these trump cards with each other. He immediately complained to our parents saying how these trumps cards and shows affect out studies. This was enough enlightenment for our parents. My mother grabbed the entire collection i had and burnt it. I heard similar stories from the others too. We began to grumble. But we all knew that out trumping days are over. SO we headed back to what we always did.... play monopoly on the teapoy using coins which my mother had collected to pay the bus fares.... now that is another story ... :)
