I will, I will, I will ........

The boy had met up with his cousins for the holidays. As usual they began to play in the upper courtyard of his grandfather huge farmhouse. Glenn the eldest suggested that they play cricket. Nitin the boy's younger brother too joined. As the game proceeded the boy wanted to take a leak. He was of course lazy to run the loo or look for some nice spot away from the house. So he decided to pee at the electricity earthing close to the entrance of the house which was of course just an turn from his fielding position.

Days went by and so did the matches and the leaks. Grandfather who used to walk by that way towards the coconut farm noticed the smell of the urine and knew definitely it was not the farm dogs. So he called the children and said "I don't want to know who did. I will get it cleaned for now. But if i get that smell again i will catch whoever did it and will cane him". The children along with the boy nodded. The boy was happy to have got away easily with that. After all everyone dreaded the four jute canes which grandfather kept in his room. Every grandchild had indeed received a dose from it at least once and knew how it felt.

The following day, the match started as usual and the boy felt like peeing as usual. And has was the custom he did an turn and took aim at the earthing. "Aba"shouted Glenn in Konkani (meaning grandfather)." Ashwin is passing susu on the earthing". From nowhere Grandpa came with this jute came and landed a nice blow on the boys buttocks. The boy started to jump and cry in pain. But what hurt the most was his ego. He was angry with Glenn for complaining and grandfather for beating him in front of everyone. So as grandfather was preparing for the second blow, he immediately grabbed the cane from grandfather and broke it into two. This did not deter grandfather who went on giving two palm blow on the boys thighs. "Will you do it again" he asked angrily. "I will, I will, I will...." replied the boy in anger as grandpa landed a few more blows.

The boy was in tears as his father came to the farm house that evening. Dad told him that what he had done was wrong and should apologize to grandfather for talking back. The boy was now convinced of his mistake. He went to grandfather and apologized. Grandfather lifted him in his arms and said "Its ok son, I know you are a good boy, don't repeat it again" and planted a kiss on his cheek..
